Xicheng District No.1 Library to Hold Spring Festival Activities
Xicheng District No.1 Library is about to hold a series of rich and diverse cultural activities during the approaching Spring Festival. Readers are welcomed to spend a cultural Chinese New Year in the library.
From January 25 to 27, Xicheng District No.1 Library will hold the 2020 Spring Festival prize quiz in the hall on the first floor. 300 lantern riddles will be prepared every day for readers to guess. A total of 900 riddles are offered by experts from Beijing Riddle Guessing Friendship Association, covering the Belt and Road Initiative, Olympic Games, folk custom, famous people in ancient and modern times and other subjects. Readers can guess riddles to get gifts. And riddle guessing experts will tell stories related to the riddles.
The library will hold the third Spring Festival cultural carnival from January 27 to 30, including the "How did ancient people spend the Spring Festival" theme activity, Beijing Winter Olympics-themed quiz, movie screening activity, the "Fu (good luck)" character coloring activity, and other Spring Festival activities. Readers can participate in those activities to learn about traditional Chinese folk custom, and collect stamps in activities to exchange Chinese New Year gifts.
From January 19 to February 4, the library will hold a "Motherland in My Heart" couplet calligraphy exhibition. Calligraphy works on couplets will vividly show folk culture to visitors. Moreover, there will be a special book exhibition area with the theme of "Enjoy the Spring Festival and Welcome the Beijing Winter Olympics" on the third floor of the library, showing readers China’s participation in the Winter Olympics and spreading the culture of the Winter Olympics.
